Research & Feasibility Lead – Industrial Power & Mining Infrastructure (Part-Time)

Description

Congo Investment Group (CIG) is a U.S.-based investment preparation and advisory platform focused on structuring early-stage, institution-ready projects in emerging markets, with a strong emphasis on energy and mining-linked infrastructure in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

We are seeking an experienced Research & Feasibility Lead to support a mining-anchored industrial power feasibility study in southern DRC (Lualaba / Kolwezi region).

This is a part-time, fixed-term contract role aligned with a feasibility study sponsored by CIG and designed to meet international institutional standards.

Role Overview

The Research & Feasibility Lead will provide senior technical judgment and oversight for an industrial power feasibility supporting large-scale copper and cobalt mining operations. The role focuses on validating assumptions, guiding technical analysis, and ensuring outputs are decision-enabling rather than EPC-level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide senior oversight of feasibility methodology and assumptions

  • Validate load analysis, power system options, and infrastructure concepts

  • Interface with mining offtaker technical teams and engineering consultants

  • Support site familiarization and field validation in southern DRC

  • Review and sign off on key technical and risk assessments

  • Ensure feasibility outputs meet institutional and implementation standards

Role Characteristics

  • Part-time commitment (approx. 20–40%)

  • Fixed term: ~8 months (aligned with study timeline)

  • Primarily remote, with up to three site visits to southern DRC

  • Travel aligned with key study milestones

  • Not a full-time or permanent role

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • 12+ years of experience in energy, power systems, mining infrastructure, or related fields

  • Hands-on experience with feasibility studies or early-stage project development

  • Comfortable operating in emerging market environments

  • Ability to engage credibly with mining operators, engineers, and institutional stakeholders

  • Background in industrial power systems, grid integration, or mining-linked energy is strongly preferred

Compensation

  • Monthly part-time retainer (commensurate with experience)

  • Travel and lodging reimbursed separately

  • Contract activation aligned with project launch
