About us
Who We Are
Congo Investment Group (CIG) is a U.S.-based investment preparation and advisory platform enabling U.S.-anchored institutional engagement with emerging-market–linked projects. Where appropriate, CIG may participate as a selective principal co-investor alongside aligned partners, subject to mandate, structure, and compliance considerations. CIG operates upstream of capital, supporting project sponsors and stakeholders in aligning opportunities with the governance, compliance, and execution standards required by Development Finance Institutions (DFIs), export credit agencies, and long-term private capital. Founded in 2019, CIG was established to address structural frictions that prevent otherwise viable projects from reaching institutional participation.
Why We Exist
Despite abundant global capital available for emerging markets, many viable projects fail to reach financial close. The constraint is rarely opportunity; it is execution risk, governance weakness, and misalignment with institutional requirements early in the project lifecycle. CIG exists to address this structural gap before capital is deployed, where outcomes are most often determined and risk is most effectively managed.
What We Do
CIG focuses on pre-investment structuring and institutional readiness.
Our advisory work is designed to improve project quality, clarify risk, and enable disciplined institutional engagement.
Our work emphasizes:
-
Institutional readiness and compliance alignment
-
Governance and execution framework design
-
Risk identification, allocation, and mitigation strategies
-
Public–private interface structuring
CIG focuses on pre-investment structuring and institutional readiness.
Our advisory work is designed to improve project quality, clarify risk, and CIG does not act as a retail broker or placement agent. Our role is to prepare projects so they can engage institutional capital with clarity, discipline, and confidence.
How We Operate
CIG engages on a structured, mandate-based basis focused on rigor and alignment:
-
Initial project readiness and execution assessment
-
Governance, compliance, and stakeholder mapping
-
Risk allocation and structuring design
-
Institutional alignment and engagement pathways
Our objective is not to eliminate risk, but to make risk explicit, structured, and intelligible to long-term capital providers.
